turquoise

After surfing in the hot Noosa sun, we would seek refuge in fruit shops and supermarkets. Mango's were cheap and they were basically giving pineapple and rockmelon away. Good planning the night before saw us freezing almost a dozen water bottles in the freezer, with each one eventually succumbing to the heat and meeting it's fate as a life saver.

noosa

Greetings from Noosa, QLD. I'm up here visiting and shooting photographs/video for Rake Surfboards. It's such a magical place. Having left Victoria on Monday, I felt as though I was back in Summertime when I arrived and took in my surroundings.

We have had a little surf at the points, though the swell hasn't been quite big enough yet. Fingers crossed some solid swell comes soon.

Here are a couple of photographs I took yesterday in between filming the surfboard production process, and scouting for waves.

weekend warrior

It was a great weekend of waves on the Victorian Surfcoast. I haven't been in the water as much as I would have liked to, and really felt it physically. Though I managed to get some screamers on the longboard this morning at one of my favourite points, before I returned home for my final term of study.

Here are some photos from Sunday morning.

weekday walks

A midweek morning stroll around one of Victoria's most famous tourist attractions. I met 2 brothers from Canada with some pretty crazy ink on their backs. I asked them if they had any affiliation with the group of fella's from Australia who proudly wear the same branding, they responded, "No, but we were told not to take our shirts off in Sydney". In fact, they had no idea who I was actually talking about, the only knowledge they had was that they were from Sydney, after their recent experience. After a little further discussion, the Canadian brothers informed me that the phrase comes from the bible, the story of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Learn something today.... tick.

There were some nice little clean waves too.

warmth

We are in the depths of winter, though I can feel the end is nigh. I found myself looking at some old photographs from a trip to the tropical paradise that is the Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra.

Here's hoping my current study fly's along and I can make a return at some point.

sunny days, yet winter waves

A 6am start on Saturday, saw a magical sunrise and pumping waves.

tigerfish art show

If you're in the Torquay area on Saturday 15th June, and find yourself all dolled up with nowhere to go, treat your heart & soul to the TigerFish Art Show.

A beautiful store, though relatively young, it's surf and art roots run deep.

Joel & Nat, who are the new owners of the store, after purchasing off the legendary Grant Forbes, have an amazing vision with the skills and passion to execute. Still and always will be, my favourite surf/art store.
