noosa deux

It's nothing short of spectacular up here in Noosa. The setup for waves is more inspiring than I could ever imagine, making for perfect down the line logging. The people are mega friendly, and it seems everywhere you turn someone is wanting to have a hello.

Since being here we have had super fun waves at several spots on the world famous points, including First Point, Little Cove and Nasho's.

Tomorrow the waves are expected to pump in the afternoon, so we are eagerly waiting.

sea stoke - wayne roach - forever grom

The second issue of Sea Stoke is out. Take a peek at some of the features here.

A couple months back I worked on a story about the much loved Torquay character, Wayne Roach.
Have a read if you're interested here.

warmth

We are in the depths of winter, though I can feel the end is nigh. I found myself looking at some old photographs from a trip to the tropical paradise that is the Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra.

Here's hoping my current study fly's along and I can make a return at some point.

sunny days, yet winter waves

A 6am start on Saturday, saw a magical sunrise and pumping waves.

forget the wrist watch

Shaun Freeman's favourite time to go surfing is now. Though on this day, I think it must have been sometime around 9:30 judging by this hand signals.

love'n spring

Spring is here and the swell has been solid. Plenty of waves to be had with lots of spots firing. A taste of things to come? Just imagine it...

everyones invited

Well weren't we just happy little vegemites on Sunday. The sun was to our back, small little peelers to our right, and 10 foot of foam sled glory under our feet. A couple of hours in the water washed away any 9 to 5 regrets for the week, and lunch is always all that more tasty when your lips are hinted with sea salt.

I tucked my 35mm GoPro into my wetty, loaded with B&W 400 speed. A delicious make of film. I love the stuff.

wishing for wednesday's

Some time well spent at Pt Impossible yesterday.

Surfers: Shaun Freeman, Ross Harrison, Andrew Warhurst, and others.

in search of something

We spent the day looking for waves, once found, we surfed them.

big wednesday?

More photos from yesterdays swell. Was a magical day to be on the Surfcoast.

The swell backed off a little in the evening, but so did the wind which made for epic surfing conditions. There is a real buzz around here at the moment.

....as long as you believe

I surfed Pt. Impossible for the first time this morning. I had such a great time out in the water, and got some of the funnest and most rewarding waves of my surfing life. This is officially my new favourite spot.
I took a couple of photos before hitting the water, including this inspiring noseride from an unknown friend.
Winter is a great time to be alive.

voyeur

My intrigue with the ocean is not exclusive to my personal surfing pursuits, but also the relationship other individuals share with it. Watching a true waterman negotiate such an expanse of water and raw power is a simple, yet mesmerising joy.
